Located in Newcastle, Maine. A handsome, well proportioned sloop designed by Eldredge-McInnis Inc. of Boston, and built by L.I. Snow, Rockland Maine in 1934. Often perceived as being a Herreshoff design, and indeed there are documented and structural influences from Nathanael Herreshoff classics in these yachts. With a sweet sheerline and a slightly elevated bow she's ideal for coastal New England waters.  Easy to handle and the perfect day sailer or coastal cruiser for two or three crew. Miwarawa has been meticulously upgraded, and maintained by present owner since 1973. Substantial rebuild from 1998-2003 at Riverside Boat Yard, Newcastle, Maine. 25 HP Universal diesel (2003). Main and jib sails. Sitka spruce spars. Oak keel, stem, framing, floors and deck beams. Cedar planking fastened with Everdur silicon-bronze screws.

Miwarawa differs with positive outcome in both sailing ability and stability from most if not all 26 Eldredge-McInnis sloops in having a three foot bow sprit (very competitive in her class for Wednesday evening races) and a lead keel (with bronze keel bolts). Also a quarter berth on the port side was added, however original interior joinery (pine with mahogany trim) has been retained. She has fresh paint topsides and has also recently varnished. The owner is especially motivated to see that MIwarawa is sold to someone that will care for as much as he has and offers are encouraged.

This 1965 Ensign (#591) has been professionally restored. The original deck was ground removing all cracked gelcoat.  Soft areas were repaired.  The deck was Awlgripped.  All of the deck hardware is new. The cleats recede or can be popped up for use. Several spare cleats are available. The bronze was re-chromed. The mast and boom are new. The bottom has been re-faired and the rudder has been re-glassed.

There is a removable outboard bracket for a Torqeedo long shaft 5 hp outboard.  (The Torqeedo does need a new battery.)  The outboard has been recently serviced and updated by the manufacturer.

There is an adjustable backstay, an oxen block, a Harken traveler and Harken roller furler.  The sails are Quantum, main, # 1 genoa and a spinnaker.

Included with the Ensign is a 2003 Triad dual axle trailer with hydraulic brakes. The trailer has never been used for launching the boat so there are no salt water corrosion issues.

The interior is rather Spartan to reduce weight so as to increase speed around the race course.

This Ensign and Triad trailer combine to offer a tremendous value to the new owner. The restoration was completed by the seller who is moving up to a bigger boat. Now its time for someone to enjoy this classic!
